Gandoca-Manzanillo Hike

Hike the remote, earthen trail from Gandoca to Manzanillo through the pristine rainforest. Along the way we will visit hidden beaches untouched by human impact. The full hike takes around 6 hours, but shorter, partial hikes can also be arranged.

Added bonus! Make the return trip by boat and you may spot one of our three species of dolphin (the bottle nose dolphin, the Atlantic spotted dolphin and the tucuxi dolphin). Boat trip is no extra charge for groups of 10 people or more! Ground transportation can also be arranged if desired.

Sea Turtle Nesting Tour

Experience the incredible natural event of sea turtles laying their eggs on Gandoca Beach, the same way they have for millennia. Nesting takes place at night from March to July, with peak numbers in April & May.

This tour is an opportunity to see one of Gandoca’s three species of turtle: the leatherback, hawksbill and green turtle. The tour starts with a presentation about community sea turtle conservation efforts. Then we will depart to the beach where we will hike for up to four hours.

Gandoca Lagoon Tour

Explore Gandoca’s lagoon and extensive mangrove forest, home to a variety of monkeys, sloths, birds and reptiles. Our quiet, traditional paddle boat allows for full immersion into the natural beauty of this remote paradise.

During this three-hour tour you will have the opportunity to spot some of the lagoon’s many animal residents such as the white-face capuchin monkey, spider monkey, howler monkey, two-toed sloth, three-toed sloth, egrets, herons, toucans, raptors, caimans, iguanas and much more. 

You will be visiting the most important, biggest and best-preserved mangrove forest in the region.

Organic Chocolate Farm Tour

Explore our organic chocolate farms, while learning about the historic importance of chocolate as well as it’s current role in our community. We will also discuss our organic farm management system, which aims to deliver a more sustainable, ecologically-friendly agriculture. This tour offers the opportunity to see lots of wildlife including howler monkeys, sloths, poison dart frogs and snakes.
